Brachycorythis kalbreyeri

Brachycorythis kalbreyeri is native to Cameroon, Congo, DR Congo, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. It grows epiphytically or lithophytically in rain forests or stream-side forests, usually in deep shade at 1,800 to 2, 350 meters (5,900 to 7,700 feet. Some inflorescences can carry as many as 20 large flowers, up to 5 cm (2 inches). Plants are in bloom for several weeks. Pot in a light, free-draining mixture, and water normally while actively growing.  After flowering, when the plant starts to die back, keep it almost dry. Lightly water every few weeks to prevent the fleshy roots from shriveling. Start watering and fertilizing in the spring.
